A friend of mine, Ms. Cindy, with Tom Skerritt on the set of For Sale By Owner.

I agreed, to do movie No.7. Woo Hoo!!! It sounds like fun. I'm gonna be a Featured Extra in "The Pardon".

According to the Shreveport Times:
“The Pardon” tells the story of Shreveporter Toni Jo Henry. She was executed by electrocution in 1942 at the Calcasieu Parish jail. She was convicted of killing a tire salesman after she and an accomplice carjacked the victim near Lake Charles. The drama will investigate the love and marriage binding Toni Jo to the boxer Claude “Cowboy” Henry. Less than two years into their marriage, Cowboy was sent to a Texas prison for killing a policeman. Toni Jo and the accomplice stole the car in hopes of robbing a bank and using the money for Cowboy’s appeal. “The Pardon” will address the controversy of who pulled the trigger. The trials of Toni Jo inspired massive media and public attention. Toni Jo was executed Nov. 28, 1942. The movie will star Jaime King (“Sin City,” “Fanboys,” TV’s “The Class”) as Toni Jo and Jason Lewis (“Sex and the City,” “Mr. Brooks,” “Brothers & Sisters”) as Cowboy.
The movie will be directed by Tom Anton, who penned the script with Sandi Russell. The two teamed up for “At Last” and also will produce “The Pardon.”

So what's a featured extra? For the most part, a "featured" extra is one step below speaking actors and are sometimes given lines on the spot. Featured extras are meant to be seen in focus, in frame, and not just someone passing in the background. I know, it's not much but do you know who else started as extras?
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon served as extras during the Fenway Park scenes in Field of Dreams.

Rudolph Valentino appeared as an extra in several films.

Noel Coward appeared as an extra in Hearts of the World. Who?

Shirley Temple appeared as an extra in several films before she was signed to a long-term contract with Fox Studios.

Bruce Willis appeared as an extra in the final courtroom scene in the film The Verdict.

John Wayne appeared as an extra in a number of silent films during the 1920s.

Brian Cox was an extra in various episodes of The Prisoner.

Clint Eastwood worked as an uncredited extra in a number of movies in the 1950s before becoming a star in the late 60s.

Dennis Hopper used to work as an extra before starring in Easy Rider.

Fred Zinnemann was an extra in All Quiet on the Western Front before he became a film director.

David Niven appeared as a Central Casting extra in many Hollywood films before going on to become a leading man.

Patrick Macnee was an extra in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp.

Terry-Thomas was an extra in many British films before becoming a star.

Trevor Bannister was an extra in Reach for the Sky.

Michael Caine and Oliver Reed both acted as extras in British films of the late 1950s.

Dave Clark was an extra in the Judy Garland film I Could Go On Singing.

Patti Boyd appeared as an extra in The Beatles' film A Hard Day's Night.

Phil Collins was an extra in A Hard Day's Night.

David Bowie was an extra in The Virgin Soldiers.

Bob Hoskins was an extra in the Frankie Howerd film Up the Front.

Robin Askwith was an extra in an episode of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).

Jeff Goldblum was an extra in a Californian party scene in Annie Hall.

Julian Sands appeared as an extra in an episode of the British TV series Minder.

Kara Tointon was once an extra in EastEnders before later creating the character of Dawn Swann in the soap.

Cuban dictator Fidel Castro was an extra in the 1946 movie Holiday in Mexico before becoming Cuba's leader. No Way!!!

Novelist-philosopher Ayn Rand was an extra in The King of Kings before becoming a renowned writer.

I bet you didnt' know that. I sure didn't.

What do I expect out of the "extra" gig? It's easier to say what I don't expect. I don't think I'll be a rich and famous actor. It's an experience that I could one day share with my children. I hear all the time that extras should bring books, magazines, and other stuff to occupy the down time. If you do, you'll miss the whole experience. Keep your eyes open and learn all you can. Watch and listen. It's very interesting. It's all networking. I have a small network of friends that keep each other informed on movies coming up.

In The News:
The U.S. Senate gutted the latest attempt Monday to legalize prescription drug imports from Canada and other countries. These were going to be FDA approved drugs. What's the problem? The problem is the government is controlled by people with deep pockets. The drug makers want to keep the imports from happening because they make huge profits on their overpriced drugs. If you could get the same drug for a lot less, wouldn't you buy it from Canada. So much for a free country.

Wal-Mart Tries Solar Power. Solar power is a dream of mine. It just makes sense. In the very near future, my house will be completely grid free. It may take me a few years to get it completed.

I look at utility companies as the enemy. Take my gas company for instance. One month my bill was 5 times higher than any previous month. I had them check for leaks and re-read the meter. As it turns out, the stupid ass meter mis-read my meter for over 4 months. I had only two weeks to come up with the enormous gas bill or they were gonna cut me off. What did I do? I bought an electric water heater. Take that gas bitches. It will be installed tomorrow evening. It's not just an electric water heater because those use too much power. What I bought is a Niagara Tankless water heater. Sure, you say, but those are expensive. Not at all. I bought the whole house system and it cost, with shipping, $289. And, and, and, when I get the solar package completed on my house, BLAM!!! Take that electric company.
